Treatment and Management of Osteomyelitis

The treatment of osteomyelitis has become an integral part in the practice of podiatry. The evaluation in management of osteomyelitis, particularly when associated with diabetic ulceration includes decision-making regarding the presence or absence of residual infection and whether antibiotics alone without the need for surgery will provide sufficient care. The program will examine current recommendations regarding the problem of determination of residual osteomyelitis and current literature support for the treatment of osteomyelitis with oral antibiotic therapy without the need for surgical intervention in selected cases.
