Academic Program

Objectives for the 33rd Annual St. Louis Podiatry Seminar:

  • Elucidate the components of the comprehensive diabetic foot examination
  • Provide guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of commonly encountered pathology in the diabetic patient including: Skin disorders Neuropathy Vascular disease Gait instability Ulceration management and surgical off-loading
  • Familiarize the attendee with the Lapidus procedure including Current indications
  • Commonly accepted variations in surgical technique and fixation choices
  • Update the practitioner on the evaluation and management of frequently presenting dermatologic disorders of the foot and ankle
  • Indications and use of topical corticosteroids
  • Provide clinical protocols for the management of pain including; The use of medical marijuana and similar products The use of topical pain management pharmaceuticals
  • Review and clarify current indications for and techniques for the performance of distal metaphyseal osteotomy for the correction of bunion deformity
  • Clarify guidelines for federally mandated programs including HIPAA and OSHA
  • Present current guidelines for the performance of radiographic studies in podiatry practice
  • Discuss malpractice liability issues in daily practice and actions to limit malpractice exposure
