About the Speaker:
Joan Oloff, DPM , FACFAS
A New York native, who received a BS at NYU, before then attending podiatry school at the Temple University College of Podiatric Medicine. She began her professional career as faculty at the former California College of Podiatric Medicine, now Samuel Merritt University. She had the privilege of being the first female faculty member in the surgery dept, teaching both students and residents. After joining private practice, she became a volunteer faculty at Stanford University, Dept of Functional Restoration, where she continued her love of teaching. She became involved in treating athletes of all ages and abilities and was invited to be the foot and ankle physician for the first professional women’s soccer team in the Bay Area, the Cyberrays. She has been a consultant to the WTA, as well as several local schools and university athletic departments. Her passion is injury prevention. She raised 3 children, all of whom became collegiate tennis players. Her greatest athletic achievement is winning a gold ball in the national indoor mother-son tennis tournament in Chicago. Dr Oloff has been a musician her entire life and continues to play classical piano and clarinet, but secretly wants to be a rock and roll drummer.

Billie Jean King is an iconic women's tennis player, winner of 39 Grand Slams. She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama. Ms. King is an advocate of gender equality and social justice.

Lawrence Oloff, DPM , FACFAS
Dr. Lawrence Oloff completed Podiatry at Temple University. He then pursued a life long course of dedication to education partnering with Dr. Allan Jacobs at the Lindell Hospital Residency in St Louis. He eventually landed in California where he served as a Professor in the Surgery Department, head of the Special Problems Clinic and Academic Dean at the California College of Podiatric Medicine. The lure of further challenge then led to a term at Stanford University, where he started a third year residency program, served as head of Podiatry, and was advanced to Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Functional Restoration. He eventually made his way into the Sports Orthopedic and Medicine Associates, a renowned sports orthopedic group in the bay area, where he practiced for the next 27 years, eventually becoming the managing partner. While with this sports orthopedic group, he entered the world of sports medicine. During the time he served as a team doctor for the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, US Decathlon team, Stanford Athletics, Santa Clara University Athletics, and San Jose Ballet. He has served as a consultant for the Golden State Warriors and various junior colleges throughout the bay area. He is entering 23rd year as a team doctor with the San Francisco Giants. He serves as residency director at St. Mary's Medical Center and as faculty of the Silicon Valley Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Fellowship. Dr. Oloff has authored dozens of research articles in podiatric and medical journals, as well as dozens of chapters in text books.
