This interactive roundtable discussion explores the use of skin substitutes in clinical practice with a focused lens on audit readiness and risk mitigation. Participants will engage in peer-driven dialogue around documentation standards, appropriate utilization, payer expectations, and common audit triggers related to skin substitute applications. Through real-world scenarios and shared experiences, attendees will gain practical insights to strengthen compliance, improve clinical decision-making, and reduce exposure to reimbursement denials or regulatory scrutiny.

About the Speaker

Adrianne Ross , DPM

Dr. Adrianne Ross is a graduate of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and attended the Western Pennsylvania Hospital for surgical residency. She then completed a one-year fellowship in trauma and reconstructive surgery at the Jewish/University of Louisville Medical Center. She is originally from Ohio by way of Great Britain. Currently, she practices in Atlanta, Georgia and serves as faculty for Emory Dekalb Podiatric Surgical Residency. She is the immediate past president of the Georgia Podiatric Medical Association and serves as Chair of Department of Podiatry and Department of Orthopedics at Emory Decatur Hospital. Dr. Ross publishes, lectures, and enjoys a surgical emphasis on lower extremity skin and muscle flaps for complex wound closures, as well as peripheral nerve reconstruction techniques.

J. Kevin West , Esq.

Kevin West is a shareholder in the regional law firm of Parsons Behle & Latimer. Kevin specializes in healthcare law, his area of practice for nearly 41 years. He has represented healthcare providers of all specialties, but in particular podiatric physicians, in numerous coding and billing audits, licensure discipline and other government investigations. He is a nationally recognized speaker and writer on healthcare regulatory issues, including Medicare and HIPAA. Kevin has been involved with PICA’s Administrative Defense Coverage (ADC) since it was first introduced in 1999. He currently serves as PICA’s national counsel for ADC matters.

Andrew Alder , Esq.

Andrew Alder is a shareholder and skilled litigator who focuses his practice in healthcare law, representing medical providers in medical malpractice lawsuits, federal and state audits and investigations and licensure board disciplinary matters. He advises medical providers and entities on issues regarding HIPAA compliance, employment contracts, joint enterprise arrangements, and the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law. He also handles litigation in other areas, including employment and commercial litigation.
