  • 1. Understand the purpose, and application of NCCI and how this affects claim processing
  • 2. Explain the components of NCCI
  • 3. Discuss some “hidden” limitations imposed by NCCI
  • 4. Describe Medically Unlikely Edits (MUE), its significance and practical application

    Ed Prikaszczikow, DPM

    About the Speaker:

    Ed Prikaszczikow, DPM

    Ed Prikaszczikow, DPM had been in private practice in Council Bluffs, Iowa since 1981 and retired in 2019. He is often referred to as “Dr. Ed”. Dr. Ed was instrumental in negotiating with hospitals to allow staff privileges and surgical privileges for podiatrists in Council Bluffs, Iowa and Omaha Nebraska. He also negotiated with Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs to open a wound center, which he was a staff member for 8 years. He served as president of IPMS from 1997 – 1999. Prior to retirement, he was board certified with ABFAS, and was a CMET Certified Physician in wound care. He maintains his coding specialty certification with AAPC. Dr. Ed has served on the APMA Health Policy and Practice Committee (HPPC) since 2009, and currently serves as Chair of HPPC. He also serves as Insurance Consultant to IPMS. He is an expert panelist with Codingline. He is currently retired, and enjoys being a husband and a grandfather. Hobbies include outdoor activities, regular exercise, and playing guitar.
