Learning Objectives: Upon conclusion of the DERMfoot scientific program, attendees will have an enhanced understanding of:

  • The use of dermoscopy for the evaluation of acral skin and nail pathology
  • The physiology, evaluation, and management of longitudinal melanonychia
  • The science and technique and medico-legal pitfalls in skin and nail biopsy
  • The evaluation, diagnosis, and management of diseases in the skin of color and the use of photomedicine
  • Inflammatory dermatoses, vasculitis, infections of the lower extremity, and their relationship with systemic disease The use of topicals and cryotherapy for treatment and maintenance of pedal pathology.

    Sara Keller, MD

    About the Speaker: Dr. Sara Keller is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on expanding healthcare epidemiology and antibiotic stewardship to the outpatient setting, using quantitative and qualitative methods and applying a human factors engineering framework. She has particularly been recognized for her expertise in improving the quality of care of patients on outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT), central line-associated bloodstream surveillance and prevention in home infusion therapy, and implementing antibiotic stewardship programs in ambulatory clinics. She graduated from Duke University School of Medicine in 2007 and received a Public Health degree with a specialization in epidemiology from the UNC at Chapel Hill. In 2010 she completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, then transitioned to the University of Pennsylvania for her infectious diseases training and completed a simultaneous fellowship in the University of Pennsylvania Centers for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Safety, and received a Masters in Health Services Research.
